Zhengzhou,
the capital of Henan Province, is located between 112 42' - 114 14'
east longitude and 34 16' - 34 58' north latitude, in the central
part of Henan province. It lies at the place 25km to the south of
Yellow River. Being the political, economic and cultural center of
the province, it consists of 6 districts (Jinshui, Erqi, Zhongyuan,
Guangcheng, Mangshan, Shangjie), 5 county-level cities (Gongyi, Dengfeng,
Xingyuang, Xinmi, Xinzheng) and 1 county (Zhongmou), covering an area
of 7446.2 square kilometers with a population of 6.659 million. It
is one of the important hubs of railway & highway transportation.
Beijing-Guangzhou and Longhai Railways, Beijing-Zhuhai and Lianhuo
Freeways meet here, and there are over 50 airlines of civil aviation
connect with other places.
Zhengzhou has a temperate continental climate, with an average annual
temperatureof 14.3 degree Celsius and an average annual rainfall of
640mm. The frost period can last 225 days.
Zhengzhou is the famous commercial & trading city throughout the
country. Many of large-sized commercial facilities and wholesale markets
have been constructed in the city. It also abounds in mineral resources,
including coal and cement rock. Major industries are textile, machinery,
tobacco, non-ferrous metal metallurgy, chemical, building materials,
food and coal. Among them, textile industry and aluminum metallurgy
industry are the ones of China's important industrial centers. In
agriculture, there are wheat, corn, cotton and tobacco.
Zhengzhou has four distinct seasons, with an annual average temperature
of 14.3 degrees C and annual rainfall of around 640mm, mainly falling
in July, August and September. July is the hottest month of the year,
with a monthly average temperature of 27.3 degrees C. January is the
coldest, when the temperature drops to just below freezing. The best
times to visit here are Spring and Autumn, when it is neither too
cold nor too hot. |
