Mt. Tiantai

230 km from Hangzhou, Tiantaishan Mountain is famous for its beautiful scenery and noted as the home to Chinese, Korean and Japanese followers of the Tiantai Buddhist Sect. Among its many Buddhist monasteries, Guoqing Monastery, built in 598 AD in the Sui Dynasty, is the most famous one and home base of the Tiantai Sect. The mountain is not very high, with its summit, Huadingfeng reaching only 1138m. The Red Stones of Chicheng, Shiliang Waterfall and Huadingfeng are considered the best natural landscapes on the mountain.
