Nestling amonghills at the southwestern foot of the Changbai Mountains in southeastern Jilin Province, Tonghua is a mountain city with an enchanting landscape. the Hunjiang River flows through its urban area. The city is rich in natural resources and has an area of 15,000 square kilometers and a population of 2.18 millions. It is the largest steel production base of Jilin Province. At present, a systme of mining, smelting, machine building, electronics, timber processing, paper making, liquor distillation, textiles, pharmaceutical, and light industries have been formed in this rising industrial city.

The city of Tonghua has good transport facilities, and it is on the vital communications line leading to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The Sanjiaolongwan National Forest Park in Huinan County
The park is 687 meters above sea level. It is composed of ten scenic areas including seven bays, one lake, and two hills. The lake formed in a volcanic vent is 42.6 hectares in area, and its crystal- clear water is 76 meter deep. The lake area presents different scenes in different seasons.
