| Situated in the heart of Songliao Plain in
southwest Jilin Province, the city of Siping is a key material distribution
center and a confluence of railroads radiating in all directions in
northeastern China, once contested by strategists in history.
One
of China's grain producers, Siping boasts of an area of 14,000 square
kilometers and a population of 2.86 million. It has a complete industrial
sectors of machinery, electronics, textiles, chemicals, and building
materials.
The city enjoys a beautiful environment with neat streets crisscrossing
the urban area. Siping has been cited as a "heroic city."
The Ancient Yehe Nala Town Located in southeastern
Lishu County, Siping City, the ancient town is a well-known tourist
spot of folk customs. Yehe which means "the sun by the riverside"
in the Manchu language is where the Manchu ethnic group originated.
The renovated town is on a hill in Zhuanshan Lake of eastern Yehe. It
is surrounded by water on all sides, and the hill and the lake enhance
each other's beauty. Buildings inside the town are arranged according
to the terrain and decorated with exquisite carvings, showing the cultural
features of the Manchus.
