Lying at the foot of Mt. Daqing some 80 kilometers from the city of
Baotou, Meidaizhao was built in 1575 for the 17th generation of Genghis
Khan, a leader of the Mongol tribe in ancient China.
Covering an area of 4,000 square meters with 681 meters long city wall,
Meidaizhao served as both a residential area and a monastery. It is
of high value for the study of the Mongolian history and the art of
architecture.
