| Located in the northern border of China,
Greater Hinggan Mountains boast abundant resources of forest, river
and wonderful natural scenaries. Apart from the world-known spectacles,
such as "the Arctic light" and "White Nights", this
area has many historical sites and cultural relics, including "Rouge
Gully" and the "Golden Road" flourished in ancient time.
Besides, there live the Ewenkis group who have preserved the primitive
customs and culture peculiar to their own nationality.
Located
in the southwestern part of Heihe Municipality, the Wudalianchi Scenic
Area is a well-known national nature reserve and one of the 40 key scenic
spots in China. In this area 14 cones marked the sites of dormant volcanoes.
With u perfect preservation of the original geographical conditions,
it is acclaimed as the "Museum of Volcanoes." By the time
of volcanic eruption, the lava from the tarter fell into nearby Bei
River and blocked its course, forming, thereby. a series of five barrier
lakes. Thus, Wudalianchi (Five Linked Lakes) is called. As one of the
three cold spring, in the world, the mineral water in this place has
many medical properties.
