Songheliu Restaurant
The most prestigious old trademark
of Suzhou Cuisine, the Songhelou Restaurant was created
in 1737 during the Qing Dynasty. The restaurant fully
inherits the traditional features of Suzhou Cuisine,
attaching importance to materials, cutting and duration
and degree of heating. While maintaining tradition,
the restaurant has made many innovations. Its famous
dishes include Sweet and Sour Mandarin Fish, Pure Shark's
Fins and Stewed Soft-Shelled Turtle.
Wangsi Restaurant
Located at one end of the Xingfusi
Street and known for its exquisite cooking techniques,
the restaurant is famous for game and wild vegetable
dishes.
Deyuelou Restaurant
Also located in Taijian Lane, the
restaurant was named after an ancient verse. Featuring
elegantly quaint contours and luxurious interiors,
the restaurant mainly deals in traditional Suzhou
dishes. The main dishes are Thousand-Layer Mandarin
Fish, Bacon and Preserved Vegetables, Prawn and Bean
Curd. Deyue Tender Chicken and Lady Xishi in Moonlight
are its creative dishes.
Xinjiayulou Restaurant
This Suzhou-Cuisine restaurant
occupies an area of 15,000 square meters and is able
to serve 3,000 people at one time. It also was the
first to execute intelligent management and features
transparent service. one interesting feature is that
waiters serve on roller-skates.
